Adult ADHD and/or ASD Screening & Clinical Assessment
Where ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are identified as possible areas of concern, I can provide adult neurodevelopmental screening and clinical assessment. This service includes:
Clinical Assessment
1–3 clinical sessions (depending on needs) involving a clinical psychology assessment of presenting difficulties, relevant personal and developmental history, ADHD and/or autism-related symptomatology in accordance with DSM-5 criteria, functional impact, and other possible explanations for the presenting difficulties.
Sessions are charged at the standard consultation fee.
Psychometric Assessment
Depending on your presentation and clinical needs, assessment may include:
ADHD:
ASRS – Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale
Brief questionnaire assessing current adult ADHD symptoms, including difficulties with attention and hyperactivity/impulsivity.
WURS – Wender Utah Rating Scale
Questionnaire assessing retrospective ADHD-related symptoms during childhood, providing information about developmental history.
Executive Functioning Questionnaire
Assesses everyday difficulties with executive functioning, including organisation, planning, time management, working memory and self-regulation.
Autism Spectrum Disorder:
AQ – Autism Spectrum Quotient
Broad measure of autistic traits in adults, including social interaction, communication, attention to detail and preference for routine.
CATI – Comprehensive Autistic Trait Inventory
Broad assessment of autistic traits across areas including social interaction, communication, sensory sensitivity, repetitive behaviours and cognitive flexibility.
RBQ-2A – Adult Repetitive Behaviours Questionnaire
Assesses restricted and repetitive behaviours in adults, including repetitive behaviours, sensory behaviours and insistence on sameness.
CAT-Q – Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire
Assesses social camouflaging or masking strategies, including efforts to compensate for or conceal autistic characteristics in social situations.
General psychological screening
DASS-21 – Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scales
Brief measure of current depression, anxiety and stress symptoms, providing a broader mental-health baseline and clinical context where appropriate.
Other psychometric measures may be used depending on your presentation and clinical needs to support a thorough assessment.
Clinical Interpretation
Questionnaire results are scored and interpreted alongside the clinical assessment and overall presentation. Relevant neurodevelopmental symptoms, functional impact and differential considerations are considered as part of the overall clinical picture.
Written Clinical Correspondence
Where appropriate, findings can be summarised in written correspondence or a Clinical Assessment Summary for your referring GP or Psychiatrist. This may include the clinical picture, relevant history, assessment findings, questionnaire results and interpretation, and recommendations regarding whether further formal diagnostic assessment may be warranted.
Fees
Clinical sessions are charged at my standard consultation fee.
Additional fees apply for the scoring, interpretation and preparation of written clinical correspondence associated with the screening assessment. This is generally around 30–90 minutes of additional professional time, depending on the assessment and documentation required. This fee is charged at the standard professional rate, with fees calculated according to the time required.
This service provides ADHD and/or ASD screening and clinical assessment and is not a comprehensive formal diagnostic assessment. Where a full diagnostic assessment is indicated, referral to an appropriately qualified and experienced clinician can be discussed.
